Carnapper are just waiting for a chance, they will strike without hesitation, if they found your car very easy to get, they will take it, even in the middle of the day, and you should be alert anybody can be a carnapper, like our late driver, it happened to us that our old driver who relieved by my boss for his wrong doing, of course he got angry, get our car for retaliation, it happened when we park our car at parking area, he passed by and saw us, so, it give him a chance to get the car, he use his duplicate key that he didn’t surrender when he leave, we just know it from the driver who know him and saw him when he get the car, we recover the car to his home.

You should be alert if someone roaming around your car, maybe he is not looking at it because it’s beautiful but he study it on how to get it, it like in the movie of 60 second, they study there target car, took picture of model and plate number then the place where it park, the time and day where it regularly park there, they familiarized everything then after that they will get it in 60 second.

When you park your car don’t left any valuable thing or at least hide it in compartment with lock, if you have a gun bring it, in case you caught them in act you can use it to distract them, a whistle can also help to distract them, don’t come closer to them they can shot you right away.

Your life is important than your car. don’t park sleep in your car unless you are in a safe parking, like close parking with gate guard, as my habit when my boss ask me to stay in the car, i didn't stay inside of the car unless it safe, but if not i stay away about 5 miters as long as i saw the car so, your life is safe when carnappers strike, it give also a chance for you to distract them before they get your car, you saving your life as well as saving your car.

Valet parking attendant sometime can’t be trusted, they can get/carnap your car if they want, you can go with them where they park your car or park it with yourself, I have learned from my friend who is valet parking attendant that, other valet attendant, before they park your car they play first, like going too far, racing with other valet attendant.

Street side parking is very dangerous it can hit by other car without your knowledge, also prone to carnapping or carjacking, don’t expect that the parking attendant protect your car, don’t leave your parking ticket in the car, it will be easy for carnapper to get out of the parking, today some new car has already a anti-carnap device, other are push button no need to insert a key, like in just one press it will start already, some new car has a system that if he didn’t sense the remote key it will beep and stop with appropriate distances.

Here are some simple tips from retrivo-atd. To prevent from carnapping that Prohibited under the LAW.

If carnappers really want your car, they'll do anything to get it even if equipped with steering wheel locks or car alarms, regardless of location whether parked or on the road, even if you are with your loved ones. Here are 10 simple tips to prevent carjacking:

1. Always lock your car. Even when you dash something into the house to grab something you forgot, a car can be stolen in seconds.

2. Take the keys along with you. Stealing the car is easy and stealing cars in which keys have been left in is even easier.

3. Close the windows. Leaving windows open makes it an easy target for carjackers.

4. Park properly. Park in well-lit areas when you are away from home. Car thieves find it comfortable to work on cars that are parked in the dark so they are not spotted. Parking in well-lit areas will also keep you safe from assailants when you are getting in or out.

5. Keep valuables out of sight. Visible bags, laptops, expensive mobile phones and cash can lure common thieves into car burglars. Make sure that all your valuable items are not visible for potential thieves and burglars.

6. Drive-away carnapping is something easily accomplished by professional carjackers. Some just hop in and drive away. But there are cases when victims are made to believe that they were involved in a minor car accident like rear-end car bumping, thus the victim will most likely get off his vehicle for inspection. This situation gives the carjacker a chance to harass or threat the victim into leaving his car.

7. Install alarm and car immobiliser. Although, car alarms can prevent potential carjackers away, it is best to install car immobilisers like Retrivo ATD.

8. Use a steering wheel lock. Simple yet effective, a steering wheel lock is a two-piece bar that attaches to a vehicle's steering wheel with two hooks. The concept behind the lock is that if the steering wheel cannot be turned, a thief will be less likely to attempt the steal the vehicle. This is also a good visual deterrent.

9. Be aware and alert. Always make sure that you are aware of what is going on around you to protect yourself and vehicle.

10. Focus at all times. Don’t get caught by lurking carjackers and car thieves preoccupied with your cell phone or lost in thought with something else. Always remember not to get out of your car without your keys along with you.
