EDSA, Provincial bus ban. How to deal with it, base on my experience.

The Newest Philippines Southwest Integrated Provincial Transport System will be use starting August 6. 2013 means all Provincial buses routing Cavite to Batangas going to manila are just until Costal road and can’t go to or pass EDSA (Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue High Way) according to the news.

This is another burden for the commuters who are everyday going home to the province. Before, they can ride Provincial bus in the EDSA, need not to go to terminal and spend extra time and money. But now, they have to go to terminal.

There is nothing we can do about it, we should follow. It’s not for one people, but for all, to cease the heavy traffic at EDSA. The authority implemented it already before, but it didn’t follow, the provincial buses still picking up passenger along EDSA and the commuter too. Now the Authority made an integrated terminal to force provincial bus to cease passing and picking up passenger at EDSA.

The time it was implemented, my friend told me, he got a difficulties  riding a jeep going to terminal, at that time, he was leaving in the province passing south expressway, before it was easy for him, walking from their office going to EDSA to ride provincial bus until "the no provincial bus allowed to pick up at EDSA" implemented. It takes 1hour for him to reach provincial bus terminal, it’s so hard, and you will reach your home at very late night. So he asked me, what must he do, he seek my advice.

As a friend I give him my advice that I done before, when I got a problem like him, and maybe the others too, well, here is, take it from me.

  • First we calculated his transportation allowance, how much his allowance for one month.

  • Then we canvas how much the rent for room, near the place of his office.

  • After calculating his allowances for one month, we compare the price of room rent to his monthly allowance. for example, monthly his allowance is 6 Thousand Pesos, that is 200 per day, 100 going to manila, then 100 going back to province, very cheap than the other provincial bus fares, but what is his concern is, the time and difficulty of travel, so, that’s for 30 days bus fare.

  • We calculate his food allowance, for example 200 Pesos, including breakfast, lunch and snack for one month, also 6 Thousand pesos, total of 12 Thousand a month, what a shocking expenses just for him? half of his salary in one month, that is just example, he can’t bring food because no one will cook and he leave their home as early in the morning to elude traffic in the street.

  • After calculating everything, the bus fare, food and time, he decides to rent a room near their office, and he save some money from 12 Thousand Pesos.

He goes home every weekend and leave Sunday night.

There are several laws, order and ordinance that really become a burden to us, our law maker didn’t do law for the benefit of one person only, but for all, so, we should accept it, if we are affected by this law, what we can do is, adjustment for our self.
