INC CENTENNIAL AT PHILIPPINE ARENA

A Centennial Celebration.

A years of preparation, now, it just a week for the Centennial Celebration of Iglesia Ni Cristo on its 100 years, 100 years of God’s love, guidance, and abundant blessings to his elected people.

Central Temple of Iglesia Ni Cristo at Quezon City, Phil.
God Prophesies.

The Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) (Rom 16:16) was registered in the Philippines on July 27, 2014 by Bro. Felix Y. Manalo, The Last Messenger of God in these last day, "From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do". (Is. 46:11)  he was 28 years old at that time, who is also the first Executive Minister of the Church of Christ, His specific mission was to preach the true
way of salvation that resulted to the reestablishment of the Church founded by the Lord Jesus Christ in the first century but the Church suffered criticism and persecution and debate from other Religious Organization, in spite of it, the Church was grow and gathered a thousand member started at Sta. Ana Manila where the Last Messenger use to live in his early years of life. He had established 35 INC cathedrals and 1,250 Chapels.

Wrong expectation.

When the first Executive Minister died at 77 in 1963,  people thought that the Church will fall, the leader had died, the Church will die too, but God‘s purpose continued and bless his people.

God Continue to fulfill his prophesies.

God put another man, Bro. Erano G. Manalo to lead His elected people, the Church of Christ continue to soar although God‘s put Bro Eranio in rest at the ages of 84 in 2009, another man of God come, Bro. Eduardo V. Manalo, who lead the true Church on its greatest place for the glory of God, now, its gathered a million member and build thousand Chapels all over the place of the World.

Amazing facts.

Before, the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) has been disregarded and persecuted, it was experienced by many member especially the old member, when they driven out in their place because they are Iglesia Ni Cristo, killed because they are Iglesia ni Cristo, other young member accursed by their parents and relative because they become Iglesia ni Cristo, even our leaders accused by wrong doing, now, the Iglesia ni Cristo is well known to the whole world with highest acknowledgement, why? Because the one almighty God is really the owner of this Church, that’s why many people, even the high profile individual voluntarily comes, to become a member of Iglesia Ni Cristo. Iglesia Ni Cristo, that once before asking for help, now, it’s the one who give help to the people under its program Kabayan Ko Kapatid Ko Aid to Humanity and Evangelical Mission. Iglesia Ni Cristo that once before didn’t notice by the media people, now; they are the one who come to Iglesia Ni Cristo for the latest news about its activity. Iglesia Ni Cristo is now truly amazing, even the Guinness official Kirsty Bennett, Guinness World Records adjudicator, say that. That’s all for the glory of one true God and Jesus Christ, the head of the Church "And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy" (Col. 1:18)

100 years Centennial Celebrations.

July 27, 2014, The Iglesia Ni Cristo will celebrate its 100 year of soaring with thankfulness and praises to the almighty God, it was a grand and greatest event of the year for us, that will be held at the biggest Arena of the World, the Philippine Arena, the faithful member are joyfully waited for this, those member who are in other country will come here in the Philippines to join in the event, an estimate of thousand member will floods in the Philippine Arena.

CIUDAD DE VICTORIA
Brief information about Philippine Arena.
Philippine Arena worth $175 million (P7.65 billion or Dh637.5 million) has a capacity of 50,000 seats inside and a further 50,000 to gather at plaza outside to share in major events. It was located at newest Ciudad De Victoria also built lead by INC with other Businessmen at Bocaue Bulacan, North expressway in the Philippines. The Philippine Arena is twice the size of the largest arena’s in the US and in Europe. Built on 99,200 square meters of land and has a dome of 36,000 square metres. The roof spans some 160 meters and contains 9,000 tons of steel work. The arena is 62 meters in height, or about fifteen stories high and founded on pile construction.  The arena is a one-sided bowl. The lower bowl will be the most frequently used part of the building and the architectural design allows for easy separation of the lower bowl from the upper tier, by curtaining with acoustic and thermal properties.

Philippine Arena Construction.
The Philippine Arena’s architecture is designed by world-acclaimed architecture designers from Populous, a Kansas City-based global mega-architecture firm, designed the arena through their firm in Brisbane, Australia, Populous Andrew James regards this project as “ambitious” and “unusual” since no one has done this before. No one has ever designed a 50,000 seater in a half bowl design. The Structural Engineering is managed by the London Based Buro Happold.  The construction leads by World-class Hanwa  E & C Corp, Construction of South Korea and The Landscape lead by PWP Landscape Architecture, the firm who landscaped the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.

Earthquake Proof.

The Philippine Arena is Earthquake Proof it is built to withstand earthquakes even if it sits a mere 30 km from the (Marikina) West Valley Fault, even if 90 percent of the world’s earthquakes are generated ‘round the Pacific ring of fire.

Man-made Marvel.

This is a “record-breaking man-made marvel” Quake-proof, also aired on December 25, 2013 in Discovery Channel and focused on making structures in the Philippines more safe from natural disasters such as earthquake and typhoons. the flexibility in every inch of the structure but also ensuring the safety of people moving in and out and watching the show by making sure there are no bottlenecks, no panic, no stampedes when they make a mad dash for the exits via the concourse and stairs during an emergency. Evacuation time only take between four and six minutes.

The legal owner of the arena is the INC's educational institution, New Era University.

Designed.

The initial design concept of the Philippine arena is inspired by Narra tree, the mother tree of the Philippines, and the root of the Banyan tree.

Love of our Executive Minister.

It really a happiest day for all Church of Christ member, every time we talk about it in the committee time, we can’t hide our happiness, we really feel the brotherhood and the love of our Executive Minister that continued taking care for us, especially the unfailing love of God for his chosen elect through Jesus Christ.

There is also a celebration of 100years of INC in every place of the World, where there is a Church of Christ, so, it’s really a phenomenon.

How hairs become gray or white, Is there a treatment and prevention?

A Crown of Glory! That’s what other people called in gray hair and why gray hair, suppose to be white hair, why gray? Naturally grey hair is for old man only but why even the young man or woman got a grey or white hair? The old man accepted it because he or she is old already but the young, they got embarrass when people say, "why you got gray hair? you are still young" Why our hairs become gray or white? Typically, white people start going gray in their mid-30s, Asians in their late 30s, and African-Americans in their mid-40s. And by the age of 50 half of all people have a significant amount of gray hair. If you got gray at 20 it considered premature gray hair.

White Hair or Gray Hair
Why black hair turn to gray or white?

Gray hair is a result from a reduction of pigment, while white hair has no pigment;
hair gets its natural color from a type of pigment called melanin. The formation of melanin begins before birth. The natural color of our hair depends upon the distribution, type and amount of melanin in the middle layer of the hair shaft or cortex. Melanin is made up of specialized pigment cells called melanocytes. They position themselves at the openings on the skin’s surface through which hair grows (follicles). Each hair grows from a single follicle.

As the hair is being formed, melanocytes inject pigment (melanin) into cells containing keratin. Keratin is the protein that makes up our hair, skin, and nails. Throughout the years, melanocyctes continue to inject pigment into the hair’s keratin, giving it a colorful hue.

Three phases of hair to grow.
  • Anagen: This is the active growth stage of the hair fiber and can last from 2- 7 years. At any given moment 80-85% of our hair is in the anagen phase.
  • Catagen: Sometimes referred to as the transitional phase, which is when hair growth begins to “shut down” and stop activity. It generally lasts 10- 20 days.
  • Telogen: This occurs when hair growth is completely at rest and the hair fiber falls out. At any given time, 10-15 % of our hair is in the telogen phase, which generally lasts 100 days for scalp hair. After the telogen phase, the hair growth process starts over again to the anagen phase.
As we grow older and reaches middle age, a lots of these pigment cells die and color is lost, the result is that a person's hair gradually begins to show more and more gray.

Other possible cause of hair turn gray at young age.

Stress could not be a reason but when you are Stress it can trigger a common condition called telogen effluvium, which causes hair to shed at about three times the rate it normally does. It’s possible that the hair that grows in will be gray instead of its original color.

Illnesses that cause gray hair.
  • It occurs at a particularly young age. Illnesses that may be heralded by gray hair include:
  • Vitamin C, B, Vitamin B12 deficiency Neurofibromatosis (also called Von Recklinghausen's disease). And Tuberous sclerosis. This group of inherited diseases causes tumors to grow along nerves.
  • Thyroid disease Vitiligo. This condition causes melanocytes (the cells at the base of hair follicles that produce color) to be lost or destroyed, perhaps because the immune system "misfires" and attacks the scalp rather than an infection.
  • Alopecia areata. A disorder in which patches of hair may be suddenly lost, especially the colored (non-gray) hairs.
  • Cigarette smoking can also cause premature graying.
  • Graying or whitening of hair earlier than expected usually runs in the family.
  • Intake of too much of alcohol, tea and coffee can cause graying of hair as well.
  • Eating too many oily and fried foods is another reason for graying of hair.
  • Using excessive amount of spices in your food. Integrating too many food items that are sour and acidic in your diet.
  • Not having essential nutrients like copper in your food can also cause grey hair as melanin’s production gets hit due to the deficiency.

There are lots of Remedies and Treatment for gray hair but takes these 4 tips.
  • Take a cup of strong black tea (without milk), and to this add a tablespoon of salt. When cold, strain the tea and massage it on the roots. Leave it on for an hour, and then rinse with cold water. do not shampoo it.
  • Almond oil and Alma juice is one of the most tried and tested natural remedies for reducing graying of hair and for aiding in black hair growth. The overall mixture is great for general health of your hair. It works best when it is massaged over the scalp for 15 minutes for a consistent period of time. Equal amount of almond oil and Alma juice is preferred.
  • Sesame oil and Carrot juice is mixed with Methi seed powder before being left for drying under the sun. After 21 days, the mixture is deemed ready for application. Gentle massaging of the mixture over the scalp for 15-30 minutes every day for a period of 90 days brings the best results.
  • Onion juice is a remedy that was used before hair dyes were introduced to deal with grey and white hair. Simply rubbing onions or onion juice over your scalp can get great results. However, you will have to deal with the smell somehow if you would use this remedy to reverse the process of graying of hair.

How to nourish your hair to avoid premature gray hair?
  • Take Vitamin A - vitamin A is necessary for promoting a healthy scalp and gives body and glow to your hair. Include dark green vegetables and orange & yellow fruits & vegetables in your diet.
  • Vitamin B - vitamin B regulates the secretion of oil, keeps hair healthy & moisturized. Eat more of fresh green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cauliflower, cereals, liver kidney, yogurt, bananas and green vegetables.
  • Minerals - minerals like zinc, iron & copper promote healthy hair. Food sources: zinc - red meat, chicken & green vegetables; iron - beef, dried apricots, red meat, parsley, eggs, wheat & sunflower seeds; copper - seafood, egg yolk & whole grains.
  • Proteins - consuming more of protein gives your hair natural shine and good texture. Include more of sprouted whole grains, cereals, meat and soy in your diet.

Prevention for premature gray hair.
  • Quit Smoking, the habit leads not only to grey hair but also to a wide variety of complications in life and therefore, quitting it remains integral.
  • Avoid Junk Food, Coffee and Alcohol, Coffee, alcohol and junk food all are devitalizing and excessive usage of these items usually leads to premature aging. So, if you’re serious about preventing grey hair growth then you would have to avoid these.
  • Ease Stress, too much stress can cause premature grey hair. Try yoga and other relaxing techniques so as to avoid premature aging and graying of hair.
  • Exercise, Exercising regularly can keep you fit and healthy and can improve blood flow to your scalp as well.
  • Keep a Healthy Diet, a proper diet prevents grey hair with food rich in minerals and vitamin A and iron. Like Yogurt and cereals, green vegetables and yellow fruits aided with regular water intake.
  • Take Supplements, The 8 B complex vitamins. You can either buy a multivitamin that comes with all of the B complex; Vitamin B5 deficiency is one of the major reasons for premature graying of hair.

Going gray does not mean you have a medical problem, except in rare cases. The myth that gray hair makes you old is just, a myth. If you were young, vibrant, active, healthy pre-gray, you're still going to be that way. It's all in the attitude you bring to it, If you think of it as merely another color choice, you won't be afraid of gray. Jewell says. WebMD

So, don't bothered if there is a gray hair starting to come out in your hair.

What is enterohemorrhagic E. coli infection?

Images from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escherichia_coli

What is an E. coli infection?

E. coli is the name of a germ, or bacterium that lives in the digestive tracts of humans and animals. There are many types of E. coli, and most of them are harmless. But some can cause bloody diarrhea. These are called enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC). One common type is called E. coli In some people, this type of E. coli may also cause severe anemia or kidney failure, which can lead to death. Other strains of E. coli can cause urinary tract infections or other infections.

What causes an E. coli infection?

You get an E. coli infection by coming into contact with the feces, or stool, of humans or animals. This can happen when you drink water or eat food that has been contaminated by feces. E. coli in food E. coli can get into meat during processing. If the infected meat is not cooked to 160°F (71°C), the bacteria can survive and infect you when you eat the meat. This is the most common way people in the United States become infected with E. coli. Any food that has been in contact with raw meat can also become infected.

Other foods that can be infected with E. coli include:

  • Raw milk or dairy products. Bacteria can spread from a cow's udders to its milk. Check the labels on dairy products to make sure they contain the word "pasteurized." This means the food has been heated to destroy bacteria.
  • Raw fruits and vegetables, such as lettuce, alfalfa sprouts, or unpasteurized apple cider or other unpasteurized juices that have come in contact with infected animal feces. E. coli in water, Human or animal feces infected with E. coli sometimes get into lakes, pools, and water supplies. People can become infected when a contaminated city or town water supply has not been properly treated with chlorine or when people accidentally swallow contaminated water while swimming in a lake, pool, or irrigation canal.
  • E. coli from person-to-person contact the bacteria can also spread from one person to another, usually when an infected person does not wash his or her hands well after a bowel movement.
  • E. coli can spread from an infected person's hands to other people or to objects.

The main symptoms of an E. coli infections are:

  • Bloody diarrhea.
  • Stomach cramps.
  • Nausea and vomiting.

Some people do not notice any symptoms. Children are more likely than adults to have symptoms. Symptoms usually start 3 or 4 days after you come in contact with the E. coli. Most people get better in about a week. They often don't see a doctor and don't know that E. coli caused their problems.

When E. coli causes serious problems with the blood or kidneys, symptoms include:

  • Pale skin.
  • A fever.
  • Weakness.
  • Bruising.
  • Passing only small amounts of urine.

How is an E. coli infection diagnosed?

Your doctor may suspect that you have an E. coli infection after he or she asks you questions and does an exam. Your stool will probably be tested for E. coli.

How is it treated?

E. coli infection usually goes away on its own. Your main treatment is to make yourself comfortable and drink sips of water. Diarrhea causes the body to lose more water than usual. This can lead to dehydration, which is especially dangerous for babies and older adults. Taking frequent, small sips of water will help prevent dehydration. If you have bloody diarrhea that may be from an E. coli infection, do not take diarrhea medicine or antibiotics. These medicines can slow down the digestion process, allowing more time for your body to absorb the poisons made by the E. coli. Call your doctor instead. In some people, E. coli infection causes serious problems with the blood and kidneys. These people may need blood transfusions or dialysis. Dialysis is a treatment that helps filter waste products from the blood when the kidneys aren't working right.

How do you prevent an E. coli infection?

  • Food and water that are infected with E. coli germs look and smell normal. But there are some things you can do to prevent infection:
  • Cook all types of beef, but especially ground beef, to at least 160°F (71°C).
  • In the kitchen, wash your hands with hot, soapy water often, especially after you touch raw meat. Wash any tools or kitchen surfaces that have touched raw meat.
  • Use only pasteurized milk, dairy, and juice products.
  • Use only treated, or chlorinated, drinking water.
  • When you travel to countries that may have unsafe drinking water, don't use ice or drink tap water.
  • Avoid raw fruits and vegetables, except those with skin that you peel yourself.
  • Wash your hands often, and always wash them after you use the bathroom or change diapers.

Take safety precaution wherever you go, especially when we are not familiar in the place.

Why do we cough?

Source:www.webmd.com
I have been suffered for cough for two weeks and I found this article helpful to me.
Coughing is the body's way of removing foreign material or mucus from the lungs and upper airway passages or of reacting to an irritated airway. Coughs have distinctive traits you can learn to recognize. A cough is only a symptom, not a disease, and often the importance of your cough can be determined only when other symptoms are evaluated.

2 Kinds of cough and Cause

A productive cough produces phlegm or mucus (sputum). The mucus may have drained down the back of the throat from the nose or sinuses or may have come up from the lungs. A productive cough generally should not be suppressed-it clears mucus from the lungs and Non-productive coughs

There are many causes of a productive cough, such as:
  • Viral illnesses. It is normal to have a productive cough when you have a common cold, a common viral infection in which the mucous membrane of the nose and throat becomes inflamed, typically causing running at the nose, sneezing, a sore throat, and other similar symptoms.
  • Coughing is often triggered by mucus that drains down the back of the throat.
  • Nasal discharge (postnasal drip) draining down the back of the throat. This can cause a productive cough or the feeling that you constantly need to clear your throat.

Non-productive coughs

A non-productive cough is dry and does not produce sputum. A dry, hacking cough may develop toward the end of a cold or after exposure to an irritant, such as dust or smoke.

There are many causes of a non-productive cough, such as:

Viral illnesses. After a common cold, a dry cough may last several weeks longer than other symptoms and often gets worse at night. Bronchospasm. Allergies. Frequent sneezing is also a common symptom of allergic rhinitis. Exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals in the work environment. Asthma.

Many coughs are caused by a viral illness. Like a sore throat. Antibiotics are not used to treat viral illnesses and do not alter the course of viral infections. Unnecessary use of an antibiotic exposes you to the risks of an allergic reaction and antibiotic side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rashes, and yeast infections. Antibiotics also may kill beneficial bacteria and encourage the development of dangerous antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Be careful to evaluation your health. Remember, a cough is only a symptom, not a disease, and often the importance of your cough can only be determined when other symptoms are evaluated. Coughs occur with bacterial and viral respiratory infections.

What is the difference between flu and cold symptoms?
  • Cold symptoms usually begin with a sore throat, which usually goes away after a day or two. Nasal symptoms, runny nose, and congestion follow, along with a cough by the fourth and fifth days. Fever is uncommon in adults, but a slight fever is possible. Children are more likely to have a fever with a cold. With cold symptoms, the nose teems with watery nasal secretions for the first few days. Later, these become thicker and darker. Dark mucus is natural and does not usually mean you have developed a bacterial infection, such as a sinus infection. Several hundred different viruses may cause your cold symptoms.
  • Cold symptoms usually last for about a week. During the first three days that you have cold symptoms, you are contagious. This means you can pass the cold to others, so stay home and get some much-needed rest. If cold symptoms do not seem to be improving after a week, you may have a bacterial infection, which means you may need antibiotics. Sometimes you may mistake cold symptoms for allergic rhinitis (hay fever) or a sinus infection. If cold symptoms begin quickly and are improving after a week, then it is usually a cold, not allergy. If you’re cold symptoms do not seem to be getting better after a week.

What are common flu symptoms?
  • Flu symptoms are usually more severe than cold symptoms and come on quickly. Symptoms of flu include sore throat, fever, headache, muscle aches and soreness, congestion, and cough. Swine flu in particular is also associated with vomiting and diarrhia, most flu symptoms gradually improve over two to five days, but it's not uncommon to feel run down for a week or more. A common complication of the flu is pneumonia, particularly in the young, elderly, or people with lung or heart problems. If you notice shortness of breath, let your doctor know. Another common sign of pneumonia is fever that comes back after having been gone for a day or two. Just like cold viruses, flu viruses enter your body through the mucous membranes of the nose, eyes, or mouth. Every time you touch your hand to one of these areas, you could be infecting yourself with a virus, which makes it very important to keep hands germ-free with frequent washing to prevent both flu and cold symptoms

How do you know if you have flu or cold symptoms?

Take your temperature; Flu symptoms often mimic cold symptoms with nasal congestion, cough, aches, and malaise. But a common cold rarely has symptoms of fever above 101 degrees. With flu symptoms, you will probably have a fever initially with the flu virus and you will feel miserable. Body and muscle aches are also more common with the flu.

How to treat a cough?
  • Try Lozenges or menthol cough drops can be easily purchased over the counter at your local drug store or grocery store. Lozenges work by numbing the back of the throat to diminish the cough reflex and urge to cough.
  • Did you know that honey has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties? Drink warm tea with a teaspoon of honey may help soothe coughs,
  • Do the Steam will do the trick to loosen up the sinus airways and help eliminate mucus congestion that tends to stuff us up and cause post-nasal drip down the back of the throat due to asthma, colds, and allergies. The best way to employ steam is by having a hot shower. You can also pour boiled water into a big bowl, bring your sinuses close (but don’t make contact with the water), cover your head with a towel, and breathe deep.
  • A humidifier works similarly to a hot shower by employing wet steam to encourage moist nasal passages that can dry up and become cracked and painful due to dry throats and sinuses. Replenishing the moisture in your home can help relieve a nasty cough if that cough is caused by a dry environment.
  • Sip some warm tea or chicken soup to heat up your airways. Not only will it hydrate you, but the warmth helps break up mucus and makes it easier to cough up.
  • Avoid scented cleaning products, perfumes, scented sprays, incense, or cigarette smoke can result in a chronic sinus irritation and cough in those that are sensitive to chemicals. It can cause a smoker-like, chronic cough. Purify the air your air.
  • Also avoid orange juice and other acidic citrus drinks if they bother your throat. Heat up that drink.
  • Take Nasal decongestants to relieve coughs due to nasal congestion. You can purchase them at your local drug store. Nasal decongestants work to reduce cough by shrinking swollen nasal tissue and lessening mucus so the sinus passages open up. When shopping for a suitable decongestant tablet, cough syrup, or nasal spray, look for the ingredients phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine. Just don’t use them before bedtimes as they raise the heart rate and blood pressure, making it difficult to sleep.
  • Use an over-the-counter painkiller. Acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and naproxen can all help with sore throat pain. Aspirin is fine for adults, but remember that it could be dangerous to children under age 18.
  • Use cough suppressant (only for those over 4-years of age) to help you get a good night sleep. Cough suppressants numb the tissues at the back of the throat, like lozenges, but they also dilute mucus so you can cough it up and eliminate it faster.
  • Mix a teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces of warm water and gargle. Do it several times a day.
  • If you suffer from a chronic cough (along with a fever) that lasts longer than 2 weeks; make an appointment with your doctor.

Prevention
  • There are no known cures for colds and flu, so cold and flu prevention should be your goal. The most effective way for preventing the flu is to get the flu shot. It works better than anything else. But there are other strategies you can employ as well.
  • Wash Your Hands Most cold and flu viruses are spread by direct contact. Someone who has the flu sneezes onto his or her hand and then touches the telephone, the keyboard, a kitchen glass. The germs can live for hours only to be picked up by the next person who touches the same object. So wash your hands often. If you can't get to a sink, rub an alcohol-based hand sanitizer onto your hands.
  • Don't Cover Your Sneezes and Coughs with Your Hands
  • Because germs and viruses cling to your bare hands, muffling coughs and sneezes with your hands often results in passing along your germs to others. When you feel a sneeze or cough coming, use a tissue, and then throw it away immediately. If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into the inside of your elbow.
  • Don't Touch Your Face Cold and flu viruses enter your body through the eyes, nose, or mouth? Touching their faces is the major way children catch colds and a key way they pass colds on to their parents.
  • Does Aerobic Exercise Regularly Aerobic exercise speeds up the heart to pump larger quantities of blood; makes you breathe faster to help transfer oxygen from your lungs to your blood; and makes you sweat once your body heats up? These exercises help increase the body's natural virus-killing cells.
  • Eat Foods Containing Phytochemicals "Phyto" means plants, and the natural chemicals in plants give the vitamins in food a supercharged boost. So put away the vitamin pill, and eat dark green, red, and yellow vegetables and fruits.
  • Don't Smoke Statistics show that heavy smokers get more severe colds and more frequent ones. Even being around smoke profoundly zaps the immune system. Smoke dries out your nasal passages and paralyzes cilia. These are the delicate hairs that line the mucous membranes in your nose and lungs, and with their wavy movements, sweep cold and flu viruses out of the nasal passages. Experts contend that one cigarette can paralyze cilia for as long as 30 to 40 minutes.
  • Cut Alcohol Consumption Heavy alcohol use suppresses the immune system in a variety of ways. Heavier drinkers are more prone to initial infections as well as secondary complications. Alcohol also dehydrates the body -- it actually causes more fluid loss from your system than it puts in.
  • Relax; you may be able to revive up your immune system. There's evidence that when you put your relaxation skills into action, your interleukins leaders in the immune system response against cold and flu viruses increase in the bloodstream. Train yourself to picture an image you find pleasant or calming. Do these 30 minutes a day for several months. Keep in mind, relaxation is a learnable skill, but it is not doing anything. People who try to relax, but are in fact bored, show no changes in blood chemicals.
