Understanding obesety

Nobody’s wanted to become fat, it’s hard to move, and obese people often face prejudice or discrimination at work, at school, in social situations. Feelings of rejection, shame, or depression are common.

That’s because of our forgetfulness to take care of our body, one morning we wake up fatty, this is the time we thought to exercise and do all thing to become slim.
Obesity is an excess proportion of total body fat. A person is considered obese when his/her weight is 20% or more above normal weight. The most common measure of obesity is the body mass index (BMI).

What is the cause of obesity?

There is a cause of obesity that beyond our control it is a Hypothyroidism. (Poorly acting thyroid slows metabolism), depression, and some rare diseases of the brain that can lead to overeating. There are medications that can help regulate your thyroid gland and improve your rate of metabolism.

Hypothyroidism is a disease that affects the hormones produced by your thyroid gland. When this happens, your metabolism is impacted and you can gain a lot of weight over a short period of time.
A bad diet is not the only thing that causes obesity. But it is one of them. If you eat foods that contain things like high fructose corny syrup regularly (fast food contains a ton of it!), you are putting your body at risk for obesity.

There are many ingredients in everyday foods that are simply not natural. If your body cannot process these ingredients in a timely fashion, it can cause you to gain weight over time. In addition, if you don't get enough exercise on a regular basis, obesity may be in your future.

  • Age. As you get older, your body's ability to metabolize food slows down and you do not require as many calories to maintain your weight.
  • Genetics. Obesity (and thinness) tends to run in families. In a study of adults who were adopted as children.
  • Psychological factors also influence eating habits and obesity. Many people eat in response to negative emotions such as boredom, sadness, or anger.
  • Several ways to Treat Obesity like, diet, behavior modification therapy, natural ways, medication and  surgery,
  • Low calorie diets (LCDs) are individually planned to include 500 to 1,000 calories a day less than you burn.
  • Very low calorie diets (VLCDs) typically limit intake to only 400 to 800 calories a day and feature high-protein, low-fat liquids.
  • Behavior modification therapy is to change your eating and exercise habits to promote weight loss. Examples include:
  1. Setting realistic weight loss goals short term and long term. Recording your diet and exercise patterns in a diary.
  2. Identifying high-risk situations and avoiding them.
  3. Rewarding specific actions, such as exercising for a longer time or eating less of a certain type of food.
  4. Adopting realistic beliefs about weight loss and body image.
  5. Developing a support network, including family, friends and co-workers, or joining a support group that can help you focus on your goal.

Although some people experience success with behavior modification, most patients achieve only short-term weight loss for the first year. Exercise greatly increases your chance of long-term weight loss. It is a key component for any long-term weight management program, particularly weight-loss surgery.

Daily physical activity can help speed up your metabolism, effectively reducing the "set point" a sort of thermostat in the brain that makes you resistant to either weight gain or loss to a lower natural weight.

The following strategies can help you start exercising and can be incorporated into your daily routine.

  • Park your car at the far end of parking lots and walk through them.
  • Walking is considered one of the most effective forms of exercise. You can start slowly and build up over time.
  • Reduce the time you spend watching television.
  • Ride an exercise bike.
  • Swim or participate in low-impact water aerobics.
  • Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Walk briskly for five minutes in the morning and five minutes in the afternoon.
  • Incorporating more natural foods into your diet, drinking more water, cutting out junk food.

Medication

Weight loss drugs, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for treating obesity, include.
  • Beta-methyl-phenylethylamine (Fastin) — this is a stimulant that increases fat metabolism.
  • Orlistat (Xenical) — this drug works by blocking about 30 percent of dietary fat from being absorbed.
  • Phentermine — Phentermine, an appetite suppressant, has been available for many years.
  • Sibutramine (Meridia) — this is an appetite suppressant approved for long-term use.

Medications are an important part of the morbid obesity treatment process but weight-loss drugs can have serious side effects. We recommend that you visit a certified health care professional who can prescribe appropriate medications.

Bariatric surgery, which involves sealing off most of the stomach to reduce the quantity of food you can consume, can be an effective means for morbidly obese people to lose weight and maintain that weight loss. To be considered for weight-loss surgery, you must meet at least one of the following qualifications: Be more than 100 pounds over your ideal, recommended body weight.

Prevention from Obesity.

If you are concerned about obesity, there are some things you can do to prevent it. First,
make sure you are maintaining a healthy diet and getting enough exercise. Next, see you doctor regularly and make sure that you have her check your Body Mass Index, or BMI, to make sure you're not suffering from obesity. This is a test that takes your height and weight into account to determine your level of health.

Regardless of how you do it, make sure you do everything you can to steer clear of obesity.
Obesity risks range from heart attacks to diabetes. Obesity effects can also impact your
everyday life and make it harder for you to enjoy it.

It was two years ago, new year day when I decide to fill my stomach of course I didn’t control what I eat, I told myself that after new year I will exercise daily but I didn’t do what I say instead I ate a lot until I realized I have a bulky stomach, my abs has gone, I want to bring it back but I can’t because I need hard work that I cant do anymore. But still want to pursue it in a natural way.

Be ye angry but not sin.

Angry Face

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun goes down upon your wrath: (Eph 6:26)

According to the bible be ye angry, but don’t sin, its mean to be angry is not a sin, when I’m young, my parents taught us that to be angry is a sin.

We can‘t be human if we did not angry, we are human, it‘s a feeling and it‘s include anger. It can be good or bad, but simply feeling angry is not wrong, but do not sin according to the bible.

How can we not sin?

If you got mad, control you anger to let it not goes to sin, we should be aware of our feeling, we should watch our anger.

Anger lead to sin, when we allow it, it will inflict pain to other.

Sometimes anger goes so far underground that cause physical or emotional illness, it prevent a person to express other feeling or emotion, to love and to care, anger control him.

Our Lord Jesus got angry too, but His anger serves a useful purpose when it leads to life giving action, He use it against wrong, be angry but not sin.

We can use this anger to make a positive differences, in your community and in the world, like the Lord Jesus, anger can be useful, it can be of great value and it‘s all depend on what you do.

Here some suggestion on how, our anger becomes useful.

  • Acknowledge your anger, don‘t pretend, do not hide your anger if you hold it, sooner or later it will blow and become worst, like me, one time my friend bully me in front of our other friend, because he is my friend and I don’t want trouble I hold my anger by clinching my fist, but he continued in bullying me, I can’t control it anymore so, all of the sudden my fist landed in his face, and didn’t talk to him anymore until now. If you are angry let it come out and be gone, say that you are angry with him, and settle it immediately. As a bible say, let not the sun go down upon your wrath
  • Uncover the cause of your anger, what trigger your feeling? Is your wife nagging you? Is your son failing his study?
  •  Know what cause your anger; ask yourself, what have you done that make you angry? What you’re angry with? Dig it up what made you angry. In this way when the sign comes and you know that this thing can make you angry, you know already what to do.
  • Explore how you feel about your anger, take a honest look of how you feel about becoming anger, afraid of what will cause, if you get angry, feeling embarrassed when you are angry, or have  guilty feeling to yourself, find what you feel when you’re angry. By knowing it you can control your anger.
  • Confide in someone you trust, find someone who can help you to deal with your anger, your wife, a friend or your minister in the church. It’s better to seek help by other, than to keep it in yourself.
  • Do something productive with your anger, pray to God to let your anger gone, speaking to a person who made you angry, make a first move to say Sorry, apologize. Does something that your anger uses in productive way, like helping in your community, join in organization, and go to counseling. By doing this you will be busy and forget you anger.

Anger can provide us energy to change; you know when I am feeling angry I’m more active to write a blog. Other people keep eating when they are angry.

You know angry bird? He use his anger to break the building, even he use his child it useful no need for the bomb to break the building and also we become happy when we play it.

How about you, when you are angry, are your anger useful, try this simple suggestion and see what the outcome to you is.

How to control uric acid level?

The high uric acid is a problem of many people, almost all my close co-worker has a high uric acid and the symptoms make them suffered like gout and other joint pain especially in the knee and ankle.

Maybe we already know it but what is uric acid?

A Uric acid is a heterocyclic compound of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, and hydrogen with the formula C 5 H 4 N 4 O 3. It forms ions and salts known as urates and acid urates such as ammonium acid urate.

Uric acid is a product of the metabolic breakdown of purine nucleotides, purine found in liver, anchovies, mackerel, dried beans, peas, and beer. High blood concentrations of uric acid can lead to gout. The chemical is associated with other medical conditions including diabetes and the formation of ammonium acid urate kidney stones.

Most uric acid dissolves in blood and travels to the kidneys. From there, it passes out in urine. Normal uric acid levels in our body should be in between 3.6mg/dL to 8.6mg/dL. If your body produces too much uric acid or doesn't remove enough of it, you can get sick. A high level of uric acid in the blood is called hyperuricemia.

What the cause of excess uric acid? Some Factors that may cause a high uric acid level in your blood include:

  • Medical conditions: an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), leukemia, psoriasis, obesity
  • Diuretic medications (water pills) Drinking too much alcohol Genetics (inherited tendencies) the consumption of caffeine
  • Hypothyroidism Immune-suppressing drugs Niacin, or vitamin B-3 Obesity Psoriasis
  • Purine-rich diet — organ meat, game meat, anchovies, herring, gravy, dried beans, dried peas, mushrooms and other foods
  • Renal insufficiency — inability of the kidneys to filter waste
  • Tumor lysis syndrome — a rapid release of cells into the blood caused by certain cancers or by chemotherapy for those cancers

Symptoms of uric acid may experience due to the high uric acid in the bodies. But sometimes it’s undiagnosed because other people may be asymptomatic.
Symptoms include:

  • Gout develops due to an immunological reaction against the accumulation of uric acid crystals in the joints. Gout is characterized by severe pain in the joints, inflammation (swelling) of the joints, fever, and peeling of the skin around the joints.
  • Kidney stones, kidney stones may not be detected until they get stuck in the ureter that can cause tremendous pain and makes someone frequent painful urination, blood urine, nausea and vomiting. Classic symptoms of kidney stones are sudden pain and intense in the abdomen, pelvis, and groin areas, which tend to come in repeatedly. Additional symptoms include urinating blood and pain during urination.
  • Kidney failure. The most severe symptoms that manifest as less urination, shortness of breath, swelling in the limbs, confusion and sleepiness, fatigue, or chest pain. But Kidney failure may develop only in patients with leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma because uric acid levels. This is usually a consequence of chemotherapy, which kills malignant cells.
  • Uric Acid Crystals, symptoms of uric acid can be found throughout the body, depending upon where uric acid crystals lodge. Although this is often in the joints and especially in the feet, it can be almost anywhere, and that can lead to localized pain in that area.

A list of do’s and don't s when choosing the right diet for high uric acid levels by Dr. Sharad Kasarle, chief scientist of DSK Nutrition Research Center.

  • Eat High-fiber foods; foods high in dietary fibre may help lower uric acid levels in your blood. Dietary fiber may help absorb uric acid in your bloodstream, allowing it to be eliminated from your body through your kidneys. Eat food such as Oats, Spinach, and Broccoli.
  • Use cold-pressed olive oil in cooking instead of shortening, butter or vegetable oils. Oils that have been subjected to heat or processing turn rancid quickly. Rancid fats destroy vitamin E in your body - this vitamin is necessary for controlling uric acid levels. Olive oil helps you avoid the production of excess uric acid, which is associated with the consumption of rancid fats.
  • Take vitamin C to help reduce the amount of uric acid in your system, regularly taking 500 milligrams of vitamin C will decrease your uric acid levels in a month or two.
  • Take Celery seed extract, the seeds of the celery plant have long been used to treat gout, rheumatism and arthritis. Celery possesses sedative, antioxidant and mild diuretic action and is considered a urinary antiseptic. In rare cases, this herb is also used to treat sleeplessness, anxiety and nervous breakdown. Although the seeds of this plant are often used in herbal supplements, the roots may also be used.
  • Eat Antioxidant-rich foods Fruits and vegetables such as red bell peppers, tomatoes, blueberries, broccoli and grapes are rich sources of antioxidant vitamins. Antioxidants which are vitamins that prevent free radical molecules from attacking your organ and muscle tissue cells may help lower uric acid levels.
  • Eat Cherries, its contain chemical compounds that may help neutralise uric acid allowing your body to eliminate this acid as waste.
  • Use Apple cider vinegar it can help alleviate high uric acid levels by changing the pH values of your blood. But it has to be raw, un-distilled, un-pasteurised apple cider vinegar.
  • Drink plenty of fluids to help flush uric acid from your body drink a minimum of 3 and 1/2 liters of water daily. Water is a medium that aids the kidney to 'strain' the impurities from your body.
  • Choose complex carbohydrates eat more whole grains, fruits and vegetables and fewer refined carbohydrates such as white bread, cakes and candy. Because foods rich in complex carbohydrates promote feelings of fullness, and prevent overeating and are useful in maintaining a healthy weight.

What to Avoid to prevent the increase of uric acid level?

  • Avoid bakery products Avoid cakes, pastries, cookies and other sugary delights which are rich in saturated fats and Trans fats.
  • Avoid Saturated fat, Trans fat, sugar and alcohol all these affect your triglycerides, a type of fat that can clog your arteries and increase your risk for heart attacks and strokes.
  • Avoid High-fructose corn syrup this is a type of sweetener in soft drinks and other processed foods that can elevate your levels of triglyceride and uric acid - a chemical associated with diabetes, gout, alcoholism, kidney disease and other health problems.
  • Avoid high-protein weight-loss diets which can cause you to produce too much uric acid (hyperuricemia).
  • Limit meat, poultry and fish - animal proteins are high in purine and this will result in high uric acid levels in the body
  • Limit or avoid alcohol interferes with the elimination of uric acid from your body. Drinking beer in particular has been linked to gout attacks. If you are prone to uric acid attacks, limit alcohol consumption to one drink three times a week.

If you are dealing with pain that is red and inflamed, especially if it is in a toe or finger, experiencing bleeding that doesn't stop after a few minutes, Rapid heartbeat or new rashes on the skin, especially in conjunction with starting new medications. Feeling chest pain or chest discomfort, as well as shortness of breath, be alarm, it may be a signed of high uric acid level.

There are over the counter drugs for initial releap of pain such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen or your doctor might give you allopurinol, also uricosuric drugs that prevent the crystals from lodging, and xanthine oxidase inhibitors, which help relieve the pain of gout.

Get to know the pain. consult a doctor immediately.

Why Zinc is important in our body?

ImagesSource: www.nutripeople.com Source of Zinc.

Zinc, It is called an “essential trace element” because very small amounts of zinc are necessary for human health. It’s an essential mineral needed for catalytic, structural, and regulatory functions in the body. Zinc is used as a co-factor by a number of critical enzymes.

The use of zinc.

  • In treating the common cold boosting the immune system, and recurrent ear infections, and preventing lower respiratory infections.
  • In treating diseases caused by parasites. Like malaria.
  • In eye disease called macular degeneration, for night blindness, and for cataracts.
  • In asthma; diabetes; high blood pressure; acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS);
  • In skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and acne. Deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), blunted sense of taste (hypogeusia), is ringing in the ears (tinnitus), severe head injuries, Crohn’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, Down syndrome, Hansen’s disease, ulcerative colitis, peptic ulcers.
  • In Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), male infertility, erectile dysfunction (ED), weak bones (osteoporosis), rheumatoid arthritis, and muscle cramps associated with liver disease. Sickle cell disease.
  • Inherited disorders such as acrodermatitis enteropathica, thalassemia, and Wilson’s disease.
  • In toothpaste and mouthwash to prevent dental plaque formation and gingivitis.
  • For athletes zinc use for improving athletic performance and strength.
  • Zinc regulating the immune function and activating the T lymphocytes (T cells).
T cells help the body in two ways:
1. Controlling and regulating immune responses
2. Attacking infected or cancerous cells.

Recommended Dietary Allowance

The "Recommended Dietary Allowance" (RDA) for zinc in the U.S. is: 8 mg/day for women and 11 mg/day for men. A deficiency in zinc can lead to stunted growth, diarrhea, impotence, hair loss, eye and skin lesions, impaired appetite, and depressed immunity. Advanced deficiency of zinc can impair motility and number of sperm. On the other hand, consuming too much zinc can lead to nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and headaches in the short term, and can disrupt absorption of copper and iron in the long term. If you have a zinc deficiency, then animal foods are better sources of zinc than plant foods.
