There are many article about blogging, all are almost the same, count this one from me, although its all the same, there is still one thing different.
Back to basic, for those who want to write a blog, what is blog, they say blog is a online journal using internet, blog its a form of writing that contain, life and experience, information, inspiration, education and entertain the reader, sometimes it contain criticism, the blogger use to reflect, share opinion and discuss various topics . sometimes letting their readers comment on their posts.
Blog is a form of self expression and marketing, blog also serve as your dialogue, you are the speaker and your content is your speech, and your reader is your audience. blogging turn your content to various form of media. it similar to television and magazine, you have to engage your viewer or reader with fresh content on daily or weekly basis, or whichever schedule you use, remember to be consistent.
How to start to blog? of course you have to set up a website, there is a free hosted blogging website and paid hosted blog, it depend on you if you want free or paid. you can search it in the internet. there is two free website i used, the Google and WordPress.
What is the different of free vs paid hosted blog?
Free means you are using the platform server, ex; nameblog.namehost.com
In free you can delete it if you are not satisfied in the service
It user friendly and easy to figure out which buttons to click to tweak your blog designed
Its sound good but on the contrary, it look less professional for its still carry the host name, it has also limited feature and sometimes it did not allows advertisement.
While on host paid, all feature are accessible, you can also manage your post, you can put advertisement, you can have your own domain, ex; nameblog.com. but when you choose paid host you must have a knowledge on HTML, CSS or PHP for tweaking your blog site designed, and sometime its high price, if you starting to blog, free site is better as a starter kit.
There is a certain types of blog according to your purpose or content that it convey, such as;
Personal blog it contain mostly personal thought, idea or comment on a specific topic.
Corporate blog it is used in business, organization to market their brand or advertise their company product, or for public relation purposes
Niche blog it is cover a certain topic of blog, ex; travel blog, food blog, fashion blog, tech blog and more.
How to create a good form of blog?
Blog title or name it should be short, and creative and immediately know what your blog is all about.
Reader friendly content it should by catchy and witty title, concise paragraph and scan friendly bit, because the reader tend to scan your blog for to read later.
Informative but not promotional like for example how to do business, its tackles how to handle business.
Your blog should always educate and inform your reader, have to learn something new or establish what the already now.
Conversational its content discussing some important thing, like if you about your vacation experience your should include where you stay, how much the cost of food, a direction on how to go there, and some activities you do, in case your reader has a plan to go there, they will get some idea from your blog.
Consistent, it means you should be consistent in blogging set an schedule to post a blog, your reader are waiting for new blog, if you‘re not consistent they will leave your site.
Characteristic of good blog.
It should be readable, written properly, provide definition that is easy to understand.
Appropriate length that your reader will not feel boredom, it depend on the type of content.
It should be relevant according to the taste of your reader, a timely post with the current issue in your industry or in the society.
Like I say Informative and Useful, as they want to learn something, to be inspired and entertained.
Engaging and discussable, a blog that they can give their opinion, share it, and will leave impact to your reader.
Grammatically correct, if there is an error it can be a turn off to your reader, try to write it before on MS word it automatically check the grammar, after you check it paste it to you blog site then publish.
Avoid Plagiarism it is the copying of another person's ideas, text, or other creative work, and presenting it as one's own, especially without permission. you should not do this, the worst thing you will face is a lawsuit.
Promoting your blog, there are many ways to promote it, in social media, like Twitter and Facebook, you can join in social media community, in guest blogging community, and many other site, that you can publish your blog for promotion.
