Is a Yellow Mucous is a Sign of Infection?

Several people assume that yellow mucous is a sign of a bacterial infection and that an antibiotic is the solution.

I been asking why the mucus that comes out on my nose are yellow, sometimes green, my friend say it’s a sign of infection, take antibiotic, but how I ask, I have no fever or flu, a cold may be, the mucus make me cough, but how it can be a infection, last time I been blogging about post natal drip, there is a part that how the mucus produced in our body, now I ask why the mucus has a color yellow, sometimes there is a red spot or brown spot, but now its yellow.

Well, I read, The Book "Does Bright Yellow Mucous Mean You Need an Antibiotic" By Kristie Leong M.D. it says that Overall, mucous color isn't a reliable indicator of whether or not a person has a bacterial infection. The mucous we blow out of our nose varies in color depending on our overall state of health and the humidity of the air around us. It's not uncommon to blow out mucous in shades of yellow, green, and brown even in the absence of a bacterial infection. When we have a cold caused by a virus, infection fighting cells move into the area to fight off the infection. These infection fighting immune cells secrete proteins that alter mucous color causing clear mucous to turn funny shades of yellow and green.

A Bright yellow mucous or mucous that's red or brown in color comes from working in an area where the humidity is low. Dry, irritated nasal passages are more prone to bleeding which causes mucous discoloration. Picking the nose also causes bleeding which can darken mucous.

Furthermore, if you have allergies or allergic rhinitis, you may start out with a clear mucous that changes to a thick, bright yellow mucous especially when allergies become chronic. Blowing bright yellow mucous out of your nose doesn't automatically mean you need antibiotics. Viral infections, allergies, and low humidity are all possible causes for mucous color changes. On the other hand, if you have headache, fever, and facial pain, it's a good idea to see a doctor.

Another myth, we have heard that yellow or green mucus is a clear sign that we have an infection, but despite that common misperception, the yellow or green hue isn't due to bacteria.
When we have a cold, our immune system sends white blood cells called neutrophils rushing to the area. These cells contain a greenish-colored enzyme, and in large numbers they can turn the mucus the same color.

Now, what the mucus does in our body, don’t you know that sticky eww! Mucus important
to our body.

Mucus-producing tissue lines the mouth, nose, sinuses, throat, lungs, and gastrointestinal tract. Mucus acts as a protective blanket over these surfaces, preventing the tissue underneath from drying out. "You have to keep them moist, otherwise they'll get dry and crack, and you'll have a chink in the armor," says Neil L. Kao, MD, associate professor of medicine at the University Of South Carolina School Of Medicine.

Mucus also acts as a sort of flypaper, trapping unwanted substances like bacteria and dust before they can get into the body particularly the sensitive airways. "You want to keep that environment, which is a sterile environment, free of gook," says Johns. "Mucus is kind of sticky and thick. It's got viscosity to it that will trap things." It also contains antibodies that help the body recognize invaders like bacteria and viruses, enzymes that kill the invaders it traps.

Don’t you know that we produce 1-1.5 litter of mucus every day? Even when you're healthy, your body is a mucus-making machine, churning out about 1 to 1.5 liters of the stuff every day. Most of that mucus trickles down your throat and you don't even notice it.

How to Get Rid the Mucus?

  • If you have chronic sinus problems there is an Over-the-counter medicine like antihistamines and decongestants,
  • Decongestants cause the blood vessels in the lining of the nose to narrow, reducing blood flow to the area, so you're less congested and you produce less mucus. It has side effects, which include dizziness, nervousness, and high blood pressure.
  • Antihistamines block or limit the action of histamines, those substances triggered by allergic reactions that cause the tissue in the nose to swell up and release more, thinner mucus (a runny nose). The main side effect of older antihistamines is drowsiness. They also can cause dry mouth, dizziness, and headache.

There is also a traditional remedy, in removing mucus and other matter in your nose, I do it before but be careful if do it wrong, you might get drown or feeling drown. It’s called, Neti Pot.  It's a little teapot-shaped device, is one form of nasal irrigation. Others include the bulb syringe or squeeze bottle.

How to do a Neti Pot? You shoot a saline (salty water) solution up one nostril to loosen up all the mucus that's collected in your nasal cavity, which then drains out the other nostril.

So, the color of mucus has nothing to do with infection unless you have a symptom of flu or cold. Ask first the doctor before you take medicine.

We all need money, How do we handle it?

We all need money to buy what we want, for our daily need, it’s a very important things, if you are living in the city, every move you make, need money, you need to work for it,

When I was a boy, I’m going to school without money, we walk from home to school, I was jealous to my classmate because he can buy what he want. For this reason I’ve learned to sell newspaper without the knowledge of my parent, that why, they wonder if I buy something, how can you bought that? I didn’t give you money, my mother said, but I denied, I said, my rich classmate give it to me.

Sometime people make bad thing just to have money, sometime they idolized already it, as the saying, money is the root of all evil, but money is good if you just handle it properly as a steward of God, in the bible said, “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that a man is found faithful.” (2cor. 4:1,2) we are a steward of God, everything comes from God in psalm 50:12  God said, “If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world [is] mine, and the fullness thereof”, including money we should handle it properly if we didn’t, God will take it away from us,

So, holding a money become an act of faithful stewardship, not a frantic attempt to prepare  for the future or survive the recession, God our true security,  who is the owner will take the responsibility for what we posses and how we survive and prosper in the future.

If you put it in your mind that God is our true security it relieves mental stress, our fear and frustration subside, what bible say, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19) so, why we fear if we have no money.

Putting elasticity in our budget then become a joy not a choir, when we believe that our survival and security is dependent only on what we do, there is a tendency that we lost our money for anything and this is the start to ruin everything financially, the joy of being steward is loss. Being creative with managing our money must be a pleasant family experience.

There are several ways of family budgeting where we can spread our money, in housing, food, clothing, and transportation and family happenings.

  • In housing, buy only which reach with your income.
  • In foods, buy a fewer process food.
  • Don’t go hungry to supermarket, supermarket is a lot of food that you can buy if you are hungry, it’s a temptation.
  • Bring shopping list with you, don’t buy if it is not in the list.
  • Don’t go with the kids, kids can ruin your budget; just ask them what they want, so, it will belong in the budget.
  • Prioritize the basic necessity of the family, cloth, shoe, buy a quality that will last longer.
  • Most of all prioritize your offering to God, this the most important thing, when give to God, God will give it back to you much more.

We all need money, a family should joined together how to budget the money each one should think how he can help in budgeting and its begin with our self how to give our household peso elasticity. Our parent are not picking up money in the street it cause their life to have money for the family. Budgeting that family peso becomes not only financially rewarding but fun and enjoyable.

The Dos & Don’t s in Social Media.

I use to live with my auntie because I have no other place to live by, my aunt is not a type of nagger but a disciplinarian, I was 10 years old at that time, she apply almost all the etiquette in her home, like etiquette before eating, while eating and after eating, at 6 PM you should be at home, sometime I say, how terrible because I couldn’t already do what I want to do, it’s always etiquette, don’t do that, this is what you should do, but even like that, I thankful because I learned a good etiquette from her that until now I have it that sometimes called by new generation as old customs. Talking the new generation, the social media like Facebook has an etiquette too, dos and don’t s that sometime we forgot, a reason why others didn’t accept our friend request, blocking us and unfriend us, there is a dos and don’t s in Facebook especially when you are using it in business, somethings you need to avoid and somethings you need to do to help you get on the right track of using social media effectively to help you increase traffic, and sales. I have one rule in Facebook, I will post whatever I want as long as it didn’t offend anybody, but sometimes I break this rule cause of people who didn’t think what they post. Anyway I wish this dos and don’t s will help us all in facing social media.

Dos & Don’t  s in Social Media like Facebook.

The Do's

Do Add Value Social media - Is another form of communication, that’s means you have to be interesting and add value in order to get through to your customers, fans, and potential business partners? Share something that will get them to fall in love with you. Your goal is to make people crave the content you share. When you offer value, you'll see people constantly checking in on you to see what you have to say today. Its right when you post something that they want you will see a lot of like in there and even shared.

Do Focus Where It Counts - Think about your audience and where they hang out online, monitor where your social traffic comes from and spend your time and resources there. No need to be present and active on all networks. Your most important and valuable networks are those that your audience is active on.

Do Be Authentic - Being authentic is the key to establishing an online business identity. Stay true to who you are and let that show online. See, you must use your true name and true picture.

Do Know Your Audience - Your social media strategy is only good if your audience response and relates to the content you share. If you want to connect with them you are going to have to know who they are like the back of your hand.

Do Build Relationships - By knowing your audience and making a step into learning about them they are going to feel wanted, respected and heard. These are all things humans need. If you can do it socially, you are going to see loyalty and word of mouth in your favor.

Do Have Something to Share - If you don't have something to share you are not going to succeed on social media.

Do Message Private Matters Instead Of Posting on Wall - Your friends might not take it too kindly when you post something that other must not know, something just between the two of you. Best to keep these conversations behind closed doors in Facebook Messaging.

Do Be Mindful Of What You Post - When you have hundreds of friends and acquaintances in Facebook, you have people from all kinds of backgrounds, all with different jobs, beliefs, personalities, etc. Updating your status with a general statement may seem harmless to you, but others may read it in a different light. Before you post anything, but just be mindful of it.

Do Call Rather Than Post Personal News - If you need to inform your friends or your family about some important and personal news don’t declare it out in the public domain. This means that all people can know what happened.

Do Reply To Comments Especially If They Are Questions - Acknowledge them, as you too post your status, and your friends make comments and ‘like’ it. Do it also, if you ignore them all the time, chances are that they won’t bother about your status anymore.

Do Avoid Posting Comments on Every Post - Don’t make it a habit to make some comment on everything your friends post or they’ll start to get suspicious. They will not believe that their status updates always appear on your news feed. Unless you are checking their wall always the worse is that your friend’s friends might notice as well, that you are a ‘regular’ commenter.

Do Be Careful Of Your Tone - Everyone has their own typing style. it’s easy for someone to recognize if  you are being sarcastic, happy or not or any matter, by your style of writing other says One way we can compensate for the lack of cues is to use emoticons after the sentences. When you smile the world will smile with you.

The Don’t s

Don‘t Be Selfish - Talking about yourselves only, if you post only about you or your business and ask people to do for you that is selfishness.

Don‘t Take Short Cuts - Don’t trick people into thinking you are well-liked and popular so, they will like you too, result not come in a second, you have to take times.

Don‘t Steal Images - Stealing is prohibited, like plagiarism in blogging unless you recognized the source, Use your own images or invest in something like stock images.

Don‘t Be A Ghost - Don’t do social media automation, Social media doesn't sleep, and either should you.

Don‘t Expect the World to give you, while you don’t Give - You have to give to get. Give your audience value and other things they want.

Don‘t Be Afraid Of Haters - Haters are going to be out there. There is nothing you can do about it. Speak them politely

Don‘t Make Friend Requests to Strangers - It’s very simple we don’t know them, But if you wish to add someone for some valid reason like to increase your Facebook numbers of friend it’s up to you

Don‘t Tag Your Friends In ‘Unglam’ (awfully) Shots - What we need to take from this rule is to be sensitive of who you might be tagging in photos, especially those shots which are obviously awfully taken.

Don‘t Over share yourself - Spice up your status updates a little. Instead of telling your friends you’re every minutes updates, share something interesting about yourself. It’s annoying to posts about what he’s doing every ten minutes because no one is really interested in their friends’ every hour activities, the result is, you decide to hide their activities.

Don‘t Vent about Your Work - Facebook is a double-edged sword, the risk is that what you post can reach people you wouldn’t want it to reach, and your co-workers and boss are the last people you want to mess with. So, just play safe and keep it private.

Don‘t Post Chain Status Updates - Like change e-mail the you send to your entire friend, Facebook has a similar kind of chain, but usually for a good cause. Someone first post a status update about a social cause, encouraging those who read it to post the status too, so that their friends will get to read it and post it as well. The intention is good but when you see your status full of that post it get annoyed.

Don‘t Flame Others - Everyone is entitled to state their own opinion on the free internet, so there’s no need to put anyone down just because you disagree you criticized him (or worse, don’t like the person). Its embarrassing not only to yourself, but to your friend as well. In the spirit of good conversations, let’s keep this in mind in whatever communication we have online, in Facebook, forums, emails, etc. Don’t ruin it for everyone. If you really concerned send him a private messages.

We should be careful in using Social Media, let take it for fun, let’s be sensitive to others, and restrict our self with rule and regulation. Respect the fact that each one of us forms part of the Social Media experience of everyone else.

How to Prevent kids from taking alcohol or drugs.

The police knock on the door of one house, the owner open the door and ask the police "what can I do for you" the police said, "we have your son in the headquarters, we caught him using a prohibited drugs."

Sometime this is saddest news for some of our parents for their children, not only in drugs but in other cases that our child gets involving with.

Our children make their own choice, whatever we do our children are expose in any vice like drugs, liquor and other bad things surrounding us, we cannot prevent them from taking alcohol or drug if they want to do so, we cannot be with them every minute 24/7 to watch their activities. But we can take a step to strengthen them to resist the pressure of the society that confronts them every day, it‘s like a bad weather we can’t do it to go away, but we can take preventive measure for our child to become a victim,

Now a day, the use of prohibited drugs and alcohol abuse are wide spread and indeed bad. The reality is by the time they finish high school, almost all graduate have already tried prohibited drugs and alcohol, and sometime the other had been continued with it and become abusive.

Why kids experiment with drugs and alcohol? when I was in high school one of my classmate ask me to take marijuana but I refuse because I know that is bad but the other out of curiosity they take it. This is one reason.

Alcohol it associated with glamor, love, athletic prowess and fun where some student like it, they want fun and felling like an outcast going to the party and having a friend beg them to try drugs and alcohol.

There are six factors of taking drugs and alcohol continuously.
  • Biological disposition,
  • peer pressure,
  • parental attitudes,
  • life crises,
  • depression, and
  • parenting style.
Because of this factors all kids become drug and alcohol user because they are in pain, so they self medicated with drug and alcohol, drugs are quick and available, I don’t know what is the feeling if you are under drugs but some say they feel good, they forgot their problem for awhile the drugs resolved their pain that’s why they continued to use it.
Kids believe that they should be able to do what adult do and the use of drugs or alcohols are merely an age restriction having nothing to do with right and wrong.

We parent should do to teach our kids to take not drugs and alcohol, we must know what this kids problems.

Let me share some tip on how to prevent the kids from drugs and alcohol.
  • Set the example of abstinence, sometime we parents are their example in taking alcohol because they saw us, the think it also good for their young body.
  • educate your child about the danger of alcohol and drug use, like my father who is drunkard he always told me not to drink alcohol because it’s bad for the health and also he always telling me not to take drugs, in my high school there is a group of people go to our school to teach about drugs so I know the effect of it.
  • Help prevent drugs and alcohol use by giving short term reward for not using them and short term restriction for failing to meet the parental standard.
  • Identify problem early know the signs of drug use. when you notice that they use prohibited drug don’t hesitate to call the proper authority for treatment, some parent are afraid that our child will go to rehab but if you really love them you will let them to heal, be supportive of follow up treatment and forgive your kids for what they have done they are just a victim, show that even they wrong against you, we parents still love them and prevent them from going back in that bad things again.
Take care of our child they are our future, a hope of the nation, from them, a new leader will arise, if we make them a good follower, they can be a good leader.
